UA English Diversity Initiative Presents • David Mura

The University of Alabama's English Diversity Initiative will host David Mura on campus, Wednesday, March 1 from 5-6:30 PM, ten Hoor Hall, Room 125. Join us for his presentation “Who Owns the Story of America?—White Narratives, Black Narratives,” where he will also be promoting his new book, The Stories Whiteness Tells Itself, available for sale at the event and Ernest & Hadley Booksellers.
Parking for the event is the top deck of the parking garage directly behind ten Hoor Hall, accessible from Campus W Dr. Follow the signs for Guest Parking.
David Mura is a poet, writer of creative nonfiction and fiction, critic, and playwright. He is author of A Stranger's Journey: Race, Identity, and Narrative Craft in Writing and the memoirs Turning Japanese: Memoirs of a Sansei and Where the Body Meets Memory: An Odyssey of Race, Sexuality, and Identity. He is coeditor, with Carolyn Holbrook, of We Are Meant to Rise: Voices for Justice from Minneapolis to the World (Minnesota, 2021). He lives in Minneapolis.
